The article is on the actual problem of receptive vocabulary selection principles for autonomous reading in modular training system. The purpose of the article is to reveal the main receptive vocabulary selection principles for autonomous reading in modular training system via the analyses of the literature related to teacher training and methodology. The author described the vocabulary selection principles and gave the rationale of their usage. The principles selected are the principle of semantic value, the principle of the word formation value, the principle of collocation value. The scientific novelty of the research is in determining the receptive vocabulary selection principles for autonomous reading in modular training system. The module for the receptive vocabulary training for autonomous reading in modular training system for the students of psychological specialties was developed. The principles can be used in developing similar modules for the students of non-linguistic specialties.
