Principles of law and their significance for interpretative legal relations

The article examines the role of principles of law in the development and implementation of interpretative legal relations. It analyzes historical and contemporary approaches to understanding the principles of law and their functions, including their regulatory, informational, guiding, law-enforcing, and motivational impact on interpretation processes. Special attention is paid to the institutionalized mechanisms of legal interpretation in Russia implemented by the Constitutional Court of the Russian Federation and the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation, as well as historical examples from Roman, medieval, and modern law. The dual role of legal principles is considered: a value-normative aspect, forming a methodological basis for interpretation, and a practical aspect, manifested in the real influence on the activity of subjects of interpretative legal relations. It is concluded that principles of law ensure the consistency of legal norms application and serve as a foundation for overcoming legal uncertainty.
