The focal areas of environmental security in the municipalities of the Belgorod region

The study deals with the problems of environmental security in the territory of the municipalities of the Belgorod region. The paper presents the findings of sociological surveys conducted in the Belgorod region in order to reveal the ecological status of the territories. The data obtained allow one to assess objectively the current environmental situation in the municipalities and describe the measures being implemented by the government of the Belgorod region to overcome the negative effects of economic activity. The relevance of the study is due to the increasing anthropogenic pressures on the environment in the region. This is associated with higher rates of economic development, including the emergence of new enterprises, the increasing number of municipalities, and agricultural expansion. The research provides the basic criteria for determining an adverse ecological situation in the municipalities as well as the priorities for environmental security in the Belgorod region.
