The article addresses the issue of inequality and elitism within society. It analyzes the essence of these concepts, uncovers their origins, and traces the chronological development of the idea of inequality throughout the history of philosophy. The work argues for and substantiates the socio-political significance and relevance of the topic under investigation. Judgments are given about the permanence of the existence of inequality in society and it is proved that the existence of social inequality is inevitable, no matter how much society strives to eliminate it. The specificity of the inequality problem in Russian society is highlighted, and the causes of its emergence are analyzed. Additionally, the article explores the societal response to the issue of natural inequality and models social instruments for its resolution. The author presents a unique perspective on the phenomenon of death as a paradoxical and singular symbol of equality and unity among individuals: human subjects are born with inherently different sets of personal, social, and cultural characteristics, yet at the moment of death, all these distinctions cease to hold significance.
