Problem of digital inequality: challenges and solutions in Russia

The article studies the influence of digital inequality on the income of the population and poverty aggravation. Based on data from countries around the world, we have revealed a directly proportional relationship between the level of prosperity in the country and its readiness to use the opportunities of digitalization. An analysis of digital differentiation in Russia by federal districts has shown a correlation between the size of the population's income and broadband access to the Internet. We have determined the federal subjects that are most in need of state support and solution of problems that arise in the process of implementing programs to reduce digital inequality. Strengthening educational and awareness-raising programs will ensure digital literacy of the population in Russia and increase the motivation of individuals to use the opportunities of digitalization that allow improving the quality of life and increasing household income.
