This article explicates the essence of spirituality in the theoanthropological model of person in Russian religious philosophy. The problem of spirituality is examined for the first time within the framework of this model. The ontological connection between spirituality as a characteristic of the personal being of man and the ontological self-sufficiency of the person in the philosophy of Russian spiritual-academic theism and representatives of the Yuriev philosophical school (G. Teichmüller, V.S. Shilcarsky, and Ya.F. Oze) is substantiated. The author demonstrates that, from the perspective of Russian religious philosophy, spirituality constitutes a way of being for the individual. Spirituality is understood as both the process and the outcome of the internal life of the personality, as well as a form of activity aimed at transforming the surrounding world in order to realize spiritual-moral values. Awareness of moral sentiment and moral values serves as an indicator of the spiritual development of the individual and their existence in the context of intrapersonal freedom, which speaks to the ontological self-sufficiency of a particular person. Spirituality and moral sentiment are linked to the theistic or panentheistic character of the doctrine of a particular Russian religious philosopher, influencing the specific features of the consideration of the essence of the individual’s spiritual quest.
