Бесплатный доступ

The article highlights the situation with the German language teaching in non-linguistic universities. The author notes that the gradual displacement of the German language from the educational process began after perestroika, in the late 1990s - early 2000s. The fact is emphasized that in practice there is a continuation of the choice in favor of English as the first and only foreign language in the Russian school, which, according to the author, causes a number of problems of an educational and social nature: a reduction in the number of students studying German at school, and then in non-linguistic universities, reduction of the academic workload of German language teachers, and in the near future - job cuts. The article suggests some possible solutions to this problem.
