This article discusses the problem of the Hellenization of Christianity as presented in the work of the Russian thinker S. N. Trubetskoy, who entered into the controversy that began in German Protestant literature, of the 19th century. The author notes the role of A. V. Harnack, who was one of the first to research the influence of Greek metaphysics, on Christian kerigma. The article analyzes the work “The Doctrine of the Logos in Its History”, in which Trubetskoy, largely polemicizing with Harnack, takes apart two sources of the Christian doctrine of the Logos: the Greek and the Old Testament. However, as the author notes, Trubetskoy's analysis of the Old Testament doctrine of the Wisdom of God has drawbacks related to his refusal to consider the achievements of biblical criticism, and the origins of the Old Testament books about the Wisdom of God.
