The study describes the aspects of the labor activity of occupational safety officers and presents the main requirements for these employees. An empirical research was conducted to identify the development of professional burnout among occupational safety officers (46 people having work experience up to 10 years). In the study, a Burnout Test by V.V. Boyko and a Maslach Burnout Inventory adapted by N. Vodopyanova were used. The authors reveal that the symptom of inadequate emotional response is leading and formed in both the male and female subgroups. Symptoms that reflect the experience of stressful circumstances, reduction of professional duties, and emotional detachment are practically formed in the female subgroup. The male occupational safety officers are more resistant to emotional burnout since their symptoms are lower than those of women. The respondents have little work experience, but they start to face with the professional burnout, i.e. an occupational safety officer belongs to at-risk professions. This fact is confirmed by comparing the rates of occupational safety officers with the test results of a control group of teachers.
