The article is devoted to the analysis of theoretical and methodological problems of scientific understanding of the essence of technical training of athletes. The study revealed two different theoretical and methodological positions of scientists on the interpretation of the content of this concept. Philosophical and methodological analysis allowed us to find out which of them is more profound and promising for further scientific knowledge of this type of sports training.
