The problem of determining the criteria for the independence of the branch of law

This article analyzes the fundamental criteria for the formation of branches in the legal system, proposed by various authors in their research. After analyzing the scientific literature, giving a critical assessment of the approaches of scientists regarding the problem posed, we came to the conclusion that criteria such as the subject and method of legal regulation have retained their significance, and only they can be used in classifying legal norms by branches of law.
