The author reviews traditional methods for country comparisons and examines indexes used for progress analysis. In addition, the article describes the informatization impact on the economic competitiveness and presents assessment methods for information development of a country. In conclusion, the study shows the importance of priorities assessment in the structuring of innovation and information national strategies.
