The article is devoted to the analysis of the theory of truth issue in the teachings of Immanuel Kant. Particular attention is paid to the question of “universal criteria of truth” for any knowledge in terms of its content and form, materiality and formality. The thinker demonstrates his uncertainty in relation to the coherent and correspondent theories of truth, showing some commitment to both of them. The controversy in academic circles on this issue can be explained by a number of reasons, including the use of definitions that originate from those derived, in turn, by the thinker himself, as well as the absence of a coherent system in Kant's theory of truth, its “dispersion” in the publications of the philosopher, which makes it methodologically difficult to derive his unambiguous position and provokes inventive thinking.
