The issues and poetics of the sketch of the major E.D. Swift “With the refugees from Crimea. From Istanbul to Kalipolis”

The article deals with the documentary and artistic basis of the unknown book of the member of the American Red Cross E.D. Swift “With the refugees from Crimea. From Istanbul to Kalipolis”. There is substantiated that the work is an artistic feature article having a framework composition that is full of the biblical and literary allusions, quotations and reminiscences. There is concluded about the social and romantic character of the representation of the Russian emigrants by E.D. Swift.
