Problems and risks of radio communication in English at sea

The research problem is: how are the features of radio communication at sea in Maritime English related to the problems and risks in navigator’s job? The aim of the study is to identify specific problems and risks in radio communication at sea. The authors discover the basic idea of radio communication at sea, the role of Maritime English in the process of radio communication and justify the importance of proficient learning of Maritime English in a professional context as a vital process. This work identifies the features, problems and risks of radio communication in the professional activity of navigator and presents key conclusions that emphasise the fact that proficient radio communication in English requires a comprehensive approach to the process of interaction between the English language and professional training in maritime higher education institution.
