In connection with the growth of innovation costs and the growing number of organizations involved in innovative development, the model of open innovations is gaining popularity among companies around the world, as evidenced by such trends as the increase in the number of clusters, strategic alliances, the allocation of its own units into independent structures, etc. In Russia, the application of a model of open innovation is also necessary to improve the competitiveness of Russian companies. However, despite the economic growth since the early 2000s, domestic companies are lagging far behind the companies of the most innovative countries, such as the USA, Finland, the Netherlands, Singapore, Germany, South Korea, in the application of the open innovation model. Only a small part of enterprises turn to external developments and technologies; venture investment in our country is a rarity, and the number and quality of clusters is inferior to those of the most innovatively developed countries. This article discusses the problems of application of the open innovation model in Russian companies, as well as proposes a number of measures that will contribute to the emergence of ubiquitous practice of application of the open innovation model at Russian enterprises.
