The responsibility assigned to judges and the public’s close attention to the judiciary reflects the need for candidates for the position of judge to have not only a high level of knowledge in the field oflaw, but also sufficient psychological training. The purpose of the article - to highlight the personal qualities that positively and negatively affect the work of a judge. The question about the need to complement thelist of diseases that prevent the appointment of judges, conduct, along with physical, psycho-diagnosticsof candidates for judges.
