The article analyzes changes in legislation regarding the regulation of criminal liability for smuggling; a critical analysis of the new articles (articles 200.1, 200.2, 226.1 and 229.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation), establishing responsibility for various types of contraband; Suggestions are made to further optimize criminal law provisions on smuggling.
