The article investigates the issues of typology in ecological scientific knowledge by a case study of methodological analysis of knowledge in ecology and ecological medicine. Scientific knowledge is a way of obtaining true knowledge. It is oriented towards the knowledge of objective laws. Scientific knowledge is objectified in the language of science. The interest of ecology in the problems of typology is connected with the success of modern science, the emphasis on the theory of its richest empirical material. Scientific understanding has a specifically historical nature. It is closely linked to the adopted theoretical and conceptual scheme. For ecology, this means that the transition from one theoretical conceptual scheme to another represents the translation of knowledge, the evolution of terminology, the meanings of environmental science. Accordingly, the role of scientific understanding is determined by the level and structure of ecological thinking. The research objective is to draw attention to the need for scientific understanding of environmental problems, including typology problems using structural and functional analysis, the reflective component of the subject of understanding and its correlation with the objectivity of the environment.
