Problems of managing the rational using the Northern region`s natural resource potential

An important aspect of the sustainable functioning of the regional “naturesociety” system is the rational use of natural resource potential, which can become one of the powerful factors in the development of the regional economy. The aim of this work was to identify the problems of increasing the rational use of the natural resource potential of the European North of Russia. As a result of the work, it was revealed that the main problems that reduce the rationality of using the natural resource potential are: poor reproduction of the natural resource base (insufficient geological exploration, reforestation, reclamation); establishment of somewhat overestimated values of the permissible withdrawal of woody and aquatic biological resources; as well as the unsatisfactory condition of water supply networks, which is the main cause of water losses and, accordingly, its increased withdrawal from water bodies. In conclusion of the work, the tools for increasing the rationality of the use of natural resource potential were justified.
