Problems of education in the Russian elite families: the historical aspect

The article raised the problems of education in the families of the national elite during a time period from the 18th century to the early 21st century. The study revealed the concept of “elite”, defined the qualitative characteristics of the elite of individual historical epochs in the development of Russia, analyzed the problems of education in the Russian elite families in accordance with the features of an era. The paper analyzed the formation of the Russian noble and merchant elite in the XVIII-XIX centuries. It identified the main objectives and features of the educational process, defined its ideals, characteristics and problems. In addition, the study reviewed the peculiarities of formation of the Soviet education system, identified the main targets of the Soviet school and the family in education of the “new man”.
