This article discusses the problem of the procedural status of an authorized official of an inquiry body, it says that the study of the theoretical and legal foundations of inquiry bodies in criminal proceedings is an important aspect in improving the norms of criminal procedural legislation in terms of ensuring the effective operation of inquiry bodies. It is noted that the theoretical elaboration of the problems of the effective implementation of the activities of the bodies of inquiry in criminal proceedings remains insufficient, which has created a certain space for the cognitive and research activities of scientists and practitioners.
