The authors investigated the influence of chloride and sulfate salinization of turf-podzolic soil on growth and productivity of Amaranthus cruentus var. сhlorostachys plants, ionic content of tissues of different plant organs, intensity of consumption and utilization of nutrient elements, and also the nutrient value of green mass. It was shown, that amaranth plants more prefer the turf-podzolic soil with sulfate type of salinization as compared with chloride one. The sufficiently high productivity of green mass of amaranth (60-80 % from control) and nutrient value remain in amaranth plants during low and middle (to 6 atm.) degree of sulfate salinization of soil and low (to 2 atm.) degree - chloride salinization.
