A. Bebel’s project “Woman and Socialism”

The study analyzes gender relations in A. Bebel’s project. As other representatives of Marxism, he connects the solution of the women’s question with the victory of the working class and the destruction of private property. For him, this issue is part of a general social one; therefore, its solution is possible only under the new socialist system. Labor becomes the main duty of every citizen of the new society and at the same time a guarantee of freedom and equality. Equality of conditions for everyone, taking into account the propensities and needs, will allow each personality to fully reveal itself. For a philosopher, a woman in a new society will become free in all her manifestations, and gender relations will become a personal matter for a woman and a man. A woman will have the right to choose her fate, whether to devote herself to motherhood, family or public ministry. This project was significant for the development of the Marxist concept of gender
