The study discusses the opportunities to develop professional self-determination among engineering students by teaching a course in Fundamentals of Career Planning and using the project method when compiling the portfolio. Professional self-determination is interpreted as an active inclusion in the profession through the involvement in learning, extracurricular, research activities and internships. This updates the processes of self-discovery, self-identification with the requirements of the profession for a person, fulfillment and improvement of personal, business, professional skills, needs, interests, motives, choices, values. The aforementioned processes generate the positive attitude of students to the career choice and their self-awareness as an actor of future professional activity. The authors identify the development levels of the motivational and axiological component of professional self-determination in different-year engineering students. The research proves the effectiveness of project technology applied to enhance this component.
