Students’ project-based work as a way to increase tourism education effectiveness (the example of student intensive courses at Petrozavodsk State University)

The paper studies the role of project-based student learning in improving the education effectiveness in the field of tourism and hospitality. On the example of student intensive courses implemented by Petrozavodsk State University, they explore the possibilities of using such an educational format for the implementation of project-based student learning. The author examines examples of the implementation of educational intensive courses, their topics, methodological support and final results such as new routes designed by students, which they could visit; developed new products for museums. The author concludes that such a work format is a good opportunity to improve the quality of students’ education and logically integrate the practical tasks of this regional sector into tourism education.
