Vocational and labour guidance: opinions, judgments and estimates (based on materials from the Republic of Buryatia)

Issues related to the direction and trends of changes in the vocational and labour guidance of the inhabitants of the Republic of Buryatia are examined in this paper. Aspects covered are studied in the context of the socio-economic development of the region. The necessity and importance of measures related to increasing the attractiveness of the Far Eastern regions in general and the Republic of Buryatia in particular are emphasized. The study, implemented with the direct participation of the authors, relied on quantitative methods, including analysis of official statistics and questionnaires (n = 170). The results of the study show that the dominant desire is to improve their well-being, which, in turn, encourages the formation of guidance that provide for the presence of a stable, guaranteed, well-paid job. More effective and efficient measures are needed to preserve human capital and create favorable living conditions for the population of Buryatia.
