The research presents the results of a sociological survey of the professional well-being of home-care unit employees providing social services to elderly, aged and disabled people. It is relevant to study the professional well-being issues due to the need to render better social services. Professional well-being is a comprehensive feature reflecting the realization and evaluation of the professional status by an employee, the analysis of himself as a member of group and organization as a whole, and his progress at work. The basic indicators of the professional well-being of social workers imply employee relations, including the relationship with leaders, fair remuneration for work performed, working conditions and workplace, opportunities for professional growth and career development, legal and social protection. To assess the professional and social well-being of social workers, the authors carried out a social research, which revealed constraints faced by employees, occupational risks affected their health and efficiency. Vocational training, refresher training and proficiency enhancement are reviewed as the major ways of improving the professional well-being of home-care unit employees.
