Vocational education and training in Turkey: traditions and global challenges

The article points the systemic contradiction of professional education and training in Turkey, consisting in the divergence of the key value bases: the desire for European values achieving and the installation of Islamic traditions. The article provides a historical analysis of the development of handicraft and vocational education, characterized by the reform of Ataturk, describes Erdogan’s policy in the field of education and concludes on the instability and inconsistency of the vocational education and training system in Turkey
