In modern conditions, there is an active international cooperation in the field of education, which determines the intensification of the practice of exchange training. As a result, mixed educational groups are being formed, including indigenous residents of the country and foreign students. Against the background of this process, the problem of conflict development in the educational environment is of concern. In the context of the initial maladjustment of foreign students, existing cultural differences and the language barrier, this determines the relevance of the study of the problem of preventing and overcoming conflicts involving foreign students in the educational environment. The work uses classical methods of scientific analysis, as well as elements of structural functionalism and a conflictological approach. As a result of the study, the main social factors determining the intensification of social conflicts and, in particular, their reaching the level of an actively reproducible model are identified. In this context, the specifics of the social certainty of foreign students as a risk group for involvement in destructive social practices are determined. Based on the results obtained, an analysis of the key areas of conflict prevention and resolution with the participation of foreign students was carried out. The key areas identified are ensuring an initial high level of social adaptation of foreign students by improving their linguistic and cultural competencies, ensuring favorable social attitudes of the host group, as well as exercising control over the nature of relationships built in mixed groups. At the end of the article, the results of the study are summarized and promising areas of research on the problem of preventing and overcoming conflicts involving foreign students are identified.
