Prophylaxis, prevention, suppression: general theoretical, criminological and penal aspects of the correlation of categories

The article analyzes the main positions of scientists on the interpretation and differentiation of the concepts of «prophylaxis», «prevention», «suppression» of offenses. The features of the application of the terminological series in various branches of Russian legislation are revealed. Comparative consideration of the corresponding categories has been carried out. Synthesizing the obtained data, the author formulated his own original position of the «layers» of counteraction to offenses with the allocation of their specific features: prophylaxis, prevention, suppression.
