From the perspective of evidence-based medicine is defined value of individual risk factors in the development of stress damage to the gastrointestinal tract, and the efficacy of current prophylactic measures to patients in the run-up to the complex surgical treatment. It is proved that among the most damaging risk factors significance is prolonged mechanical ventilation and the duration of cardiopulmonary bypass, and the development of postoperative sepsis and disseminated intravascular coagulation syndrome. Among the most important factors, medical history belongs recurrent peptic ulcer disease and chronic erosive gastroduodenitis.
