Prognozing the risk and treatment of esophageal and stomach varicose veins dilatation bleeding in children with extrahepatic portal hypertension

The article summarizes the experience of diagnostics and treatment 48 patients from one to 16 years old with extrahepatic portal hypertension. A new method of endoscopic pressure measurement in esophageal veins in children with portal hypertension was developed. A quantitative assessment of varicose veins dilatation bleeding risk was made. On the basis of the new data the authors draw a conclusion about the stage character of treatment program that should necessarily start with endoscopic interference.
