The article deals with the sculptural works and creative life of the famous French sculptor O. Rodin (1840 1917), used as a visual source of a special theme, interpreted in the language of dance by two Russian choreographers L. Jacobson and B. Eifman. The author of the study pays special attention to the spiritual and psychological factors of visualization of O. Rodin’s creations in choreographic images of various genre forms a miniature and a two act performance. Based on the plastic category and using the tools of related arts (sculptural plasticity and dance), the author of the article examines the various points of connection between them, due to the choice of plot. By synchronous (mainly in the figurative motivation of the theme of Rodin’s cycle of six miniatures «Eternal Spring», «Kiss», «Eternal Idol», «Despair», «Paolo and Francesca», «Ecstasy» by L. Jacobson) and diachronous (fabulous development of the dramatic action in the ballet «Rodin and his Eternal Idol» by B. Eifman), polar opposite staging concepts are shown, embodied by means of choreography. In the first case, much attention is paid to the stylistic correlations of the sculptural and choreographic image, in the second, the dynamics of the event series in the reproduction of the creative path and tracing some milestones in the sculptor’s biography. The author also explores the boundaries of using the theme of the creator and creator of works of art through genre forms of choreography. The analytical portrait of O. Rodin is an attempt not only to generalize his consistent, albeit contradictory, creative searches, but also to theoretically substantiate the dominant properties of the phenomenon of his personality, shown in the dance. It is emphasized that the universal category of plastic creativity functions here at all levels of organization of the visual perception system. The article is the first to carry out a comparative analysis of two directorial interpretations in the context of the artistic creations of O. Rodin, translated into the language of another art and represented in modern stage images.
