Manifestations of alexithymia in therapeutic groups participants

The article highlights the problem of alexithymia and its prevalence among psychologist's clients (on the example of therapeutic group participants). The relevance of psychological work with clients' emotional states and monitoring the dynamics of these states in the course of individual and group work defines the subject of the study. The article presents the results of an empirical study to identify the level of alexithymia in dynamics among participants in therapeutic groups. Possible causes of changes in the level of alexithymia of group members in the process of self-improvement are considered. The authors give possible explanations for changes in the level of alexithymia. As part of the article, an analysis of specific cases is presented for illustration. The results of the study obtained on the basis of data from the diagnostic questionnaire - the Toronto Alexithymic Scale (TAS-26), as well as the included observation in the course of psychotherapeutic work.
