Manifestations of suicide risk and aggression in the structure of neurotic disorders in cadets of the Suvorov Military School

Cadets of the Suvorov military schools are a special group of school-age adolescents due to the specific conditionsof their life and way of life. A closed education system, separation from the family and lack of communication withrelatives and friends, increased workload, strict discipline - all this often causes psychological stress and a state ofstress and leads to mental health problems for future servicemen. Objective: to study the frequency of occurrence ofthe main clinical and epidemiological characteristics of neurotic disorders (ICD-10 F40-F48 rubric “Neurotic, stress-related and somatoform disorders”) in the form of suicidal intentions and a tendency to aggression in adolescent c a-dets of the Suvorov military school. Materials and Methods. The work was carried out on the basis of the Chita Suvorov Military School of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation. At the first stage of the study, twogroups were formed. The main group (n=85) - first-year adolescent cadets. The control group (n=108) - first-yearstudents of educational institutions of primary and secondary vocational education in the city of Chita of the sameage. At the second stage, after 1 year of training, a repeated examination of cadets (n=48) of the Suvorov militaryschool was carried out using a battery of psychodiagnostic test questionnaires in order to compare the data obtainedwith the primary ones. Results. The incidence of neurotic register disorders among first-year adolescent cadets of theSuvorov military school was more than 20 times lower than among students of a similar age. Pre-morbid neuroticstates were less common, indicators of suicidal intentions and aggression were less pronounced. After 1 year of training, neurotic disorders in cadets began to occur 3 times more often and were manifested by anxiety and depressivesymptoms. The frequency of pre-morbid neurotic states also increased, there were changes in the formation of suicidal intentions, the total aggression index increased due to indirect and verbal aggression. The data obtained indicates aneed to optimize the psychological support of cadets throughout the entire period of their training at the militaryschool and to develop a special complex of programs aimed at adapting adolescents to regulated living and learningconditions.
