Emergence of elements of Buddhism in Western Buryat epic tradition

The article examines the peculiarities of the spread of Buddhism among the Buryats and its influence on epic creativity of the Western and Eastern ethnic groups. The activity of Tibetan Buddhists to promote the doctrine is characterized as the basis for its widespread dissemination among Mongolian nomads in the 17th and 18th centuries. It is concluded that the uligers of the Western Buryat tradition broadcast the ideas of “folk” Buddhism, which is the most elementary information about this religion.
