Provincial iconostasis of the XVIII - XIX centuries

On the basis of archive and museum collections there is analyzed the history and statistics of disappeared provincial iconostasis of the XVIII -XIX centuries (Bolkhov city). The author points out the archaic motives in the art program and carving along the XIX century, figurative сompositions and wooden round sculpture done with gilding and painting, also more often stylistic changes in the iconostasis of the side altar.
