Mental health and social adaptation in children with congenital heart disease

In this paper we introduce results of clinical-psychopathological and neurological investigation of 179 children with congenital heart disease. We have identified risk factors of development of mental disorders the leading ones of which are pre-, perinatal impairing factors leading to early organic impairment of central nervous system. Presence of severe hemodynamic disturbances and hypoxemias worsens cerebral organic failure, contributes to formation and complication with the age of organic cognitive and asthenic disorders.
