The paper examines psychodynamic properties, emotional states and their features in middle-aged women of different marital status. It was found that married women are characterized by decreased levels of frustration and anxiety, increased neuroticism, psychomotor plasticity and intellectual emotionality. They have higher rates of communicative emotionality and extraversion than all other subgroups of women. Single women are characterized by decreased levels of extraversion, aggression, frustration, increased values of neuroticism, communication speed and psychomotor plasticity, and decreased psychomotor emotionality. Divorced women are characterized by a low level of extraversion, decreased values of anxiety and frustration, increased communication speed, psychomotor plasticity, intellectual ergicity, and decreased psychomotor emotionality. Differences between groups are most often observed in extraversion, neuroticism, anxiety and frustration, as well as some formal dynamic properties of individuality. Many of the identified features and differences are due to the influence of socio-psychological stress, which causes increased anxiety in most of the test subjects. The results obtained in the course of the study can help psychologists and psychotherapists in identifying weak links in each case of a change in marital status, as well as in assessing the possibility of solving the problem and the long-term nature of this assistance.
