Psychological aspects of professional self-determination of technical and humanities students

The paper deals with the problem of professional selfdetermination of students in the humanities and technical fields of training at the stage of secondary vocational education: its theoretical and empirical aspects are studied, a set of methods for research is selected, and a sample of optants is described. The students ' professional self-determination was studied in relation to their professional identity and orientation. As a result of a comparative analysis of the data obtained, differences were revealed in professional self-determination and the status of professional identity among students of technical and humanitarian fields; instability of the professional position of optants; their preference for those activities that correspond to the profile of training. According to the results of the study, it is summarized that the professional self-determination of students is in the process of formation, is incomplete and is characterized by fluctuations in the awareness of the choice of specialization, the variability of their professional intentions, which requires psychological and pedagogical support and accompaniment of students in their personal and professional development.
