Psychological aspects of the training process of young chess players taking into account gender characteristics

Relevance. Insufficient knowledge of the psychological functions that affect performance, the formation of sports skills at different stages of the training process as indicators of performance success, as well as the relationship between the effectiveness of intellectual abilities development and the pace of personality development in the adolescent age period and gender differences among young chess players determined the relevance of the study. The aim of the study was to study the peculiarities of the manifestation of intellectual abilities in teenage girls and boys engaged in chess. Research methodology. The study included 11 girls and 13 boys aged 13-16 who were engaged in chess at a children's and youth sports school. To limit the effectiveness of arbitrary short-term memorization, direct and operative memory, followed by calculating the effectiveness and complex index of memory, selectivity and concentration of attention, logical thinking, the methods of "Double counting", by G. Munster-berg and "Numerical Test" were used. Comparison of groups by quantitative characteristics was performed using the Student's t-test for independent samples (Statistica 10). The observed differences were considered statistically significant at PConclusion. The results obtained from the peculiarities of the manifestation of intellectual abilities in young chess players showed the absence of gender differences in the manifestation of memory, the best development of attention in girls and logical thinking in boys.
