Psychological bases of students’ foreign language communicative competence at a technical higher education institution

The article describes the psychological bases of the formation of students’ foreign language communicative competence in the process of learning a foreign language at a technical higher education institution. The role of the communicative and differential approaches focused on the professional sphere of activity of students of different levels of proficiency in a foreign language is determined. The research, which is devoted to the coordination of visual-auditory images that contribute to the activation of psychological processes of thinking, memory and perception in the process of foreign language communication, is described. The purpose of this article is to analyze and evaluate the significance of psychological mechanisms in memorizing lexical units and grammatical structures in order to increase the level of students’ foreign language communicative competence at a technical university.
