Psychological features of deontological regulation of law enforcement officers’ behavior

The fundamental foundations of deontology, as a set of standards of morality and ethics in the officers' professional behavior of employees, are reflected in various professional documents of lawyers, journalists, social workers, psychologists, teachers, etc., which regulate the foundations of the ethics of specialists. As a rule, moral deontological norms of relationships among the officers are narrowed down to the ethical principles of their behaviour in professionally important situations. Meanwhile law enforcement agencies' units besides ethics postulate the legal norms, requirements set by law and bylaws. In a legally relevant situation a police officer must comply with the legal provisions and appropriate instructions. What role do deontological principles and morality play? Isn't deontology an excessive normative load in police units or an alternative system which can compete with the law? The objective of the article is to reveal the sources and causes of contradictions between legal norms and deontological principles during the regulation of law enforcement officers' behaviour
