Psychological resources of coping behavior in adolescent athletes

Relevance. Self-realization of athletes in sports activities is always associated with high physical and mental overload, which, of course, are sources of development of chronic stress and burnout. The problem of coping behavior in sports is relevant, since the success of coping with stressful situations by sportsmen largely determines their professional health and longevity. The aim of the study was to determine the psychological resources of coping behavior in athletes of adolescent age engaged in weightlifting. Research methods: analysis of scientific and methodological literature, testing, methods of mathematical statistics. The study involved 50 athletes of different qualifications engaged in weightlifting (aged 13-18years). Research results. No preferred coping strategies were found in adolescent athletes coping. They all have an average range of severity. The level of emotional intelligence in adolescent athletes is low, and in young athletes-average. Adolescent athletes at an average level assess their self-efficacy in sports activities and in the sphere of communication; no significant differences were found between the groups. In the correlation study, direct reliable relationships were established between indicators of emotional intelligence and coping strategies in both samples of athletes. There were no correlations between the components of self-efficacy and ways of coping with stress.
