Results of the study of 43 pregnant women with essential hypertension (AH) of stage I-II have been conducted. The dynamics of psychological profile of pregnant women with AH has been shown against the background of the long-term antihypertensive pharmacotherapy. Comparative assessment of clinical efficacy of treatment of AH in pregnant women with medicine: metoprolol tartrate (Egilok Retard metoprolol, Egis, Hungary) and methyldopa (Dopegyt, Egis, Hungary) has been carried out. Administered antihypertensive therapy resulted in stable targeted level of AP in pregnant women of both groups. Psychological profile of pregnant women with AH is characterized by propensity to psychosomatic reactions, severity of anxiety at somatic level. By the 6th month we have noticed the reduction of symptoms of depression and somatic anxiety in psychological status of pregnant women receiving metoprolol tartrate, improvement of social adaptation against the background of normalization and stabilization of level of AH.
