The article deals with psychology of emptiness in the novel of O. Slavnikova «Dragonfly, enlarged to the size of the dog» (1997). The existential experience of emptiness is associated with the lack or loss of the meaning of existence. As a result, the lost of propinquity between mother and daughter, emptiness captures any spiritual movement of characters and turns into independent life-threatening substance.
