An important problem, the solution of which is important for musical and pedagogical practice, is the process of preparing students of music schools (colleges) for independent professional activity. The author of the article draws attention to such an important aspect of a musician's professional skill as psychological and pedagogical competence, and also justifies the need to use a cognitive approach in the process of learning to play wind instruments (in particular, trombone and tuba).
