Psychological and pedagogical features of teaching a foreign language to adults

Teaching English to adults is an urgent task of the modern educational process. This article discusses the main pedagogical approaches, methods and forms of working with an adult audience. Adult education is a direction in pedagogy aimed at mastering professional knowledge by an age audience in the process of training and retraining. This direction requires further development, formation and construction of new methods and forms of training. The author examines the psychological, physiological and social factors of teaching and learning a foreign language for adults and provides a framework that includes psycholinguistic aspects of language learning, proposed methodologies and theories. In particular, the main disadvantages of modern methods that are being implemented at present time are considered. The author puts forward postulates, the consideration of which, in his opinion, can significantly increase the level of teaching a foreign language to an adult audience.
