The article analyzes Pushkin’s code, evident in the “posthumous” poems of G.V. Ivanov, which include the cycle “Diary” (the third part of the collection “Poems”, 1958) and the final book of poems “The Posthumous Diary” (1958). Its content, functions, evolution and ways of artistic embodiment are characterized. It is shown that in Ivanov’s “posthumous” poems Pushkin’s code plays the role of a cycle-forming bond and ensures the creation of a special ensemble unity, the “last” lyrical diary, which captures both the alienation of the emigrant poet from the literary experience of the great predecessor and the attraction to him. It is proved that Pushkin’s code in Ivanov’s “posthumous poems” also performs a communicative function. The mastering of the Pushkin tradition in Ivanov’s “last” lyrical diary is embodied in the form of a creative dialogue with the classical poet. This dialogue unfolds on figurative-motivational, reminiscent-allusive and intonational levels and, despite a certain zigzag, moves from polemics to agreement. The article notes that the content of Pushkin’s code used in Ivanov’s diary poems correlates with Pushkin’s poetology. It also harmoniously correlates with Pushkin’s tradition of creating an ideal female image, symbolizing the poet’s Muse. The appeal to the Pushkin tradition, which takes place in the “posthumous” poems of emigrant Ivanov, largely determines his creative self-identification. The author comes to the conclusion that the action of the Pushkin code both promotes the poetry of the late Ivanov to external simplicity and artlessness, and transforms the nature of Ivanov’s lyricism, sharpening the utmost sincerity and naked confessionalism of his “posthumous” poems.
